I found CrossFit in December of 2008 after becoming bored with the usual, post-college/grad school routine of lifting weights 3 times a week and some cardio. I had just completed the Chicago Marathon and was looking for something different. I was intrigued by the concept of constantly varying workouts, training that emphasizes functional movement, and maximizing intensity, not duration. I embraced the concept and the community that CrossFit offers and have never looked back. Through CrossFit, I gained 20 pounds of muscle, am stronger and fitter than I have ever been, and have been introduced to movements I would have never considered doing at the gym, such as the olympic lifts.
I became a trainer to help others realize and achieve their own athletic potential in CrossFit. I really appreciate the fact that CrossFit is infinitely scalable and can be modified to meet every fitness level. I have had the opportunity to introduce CrossFit through our Foundations curriculum to dozens of athletes, ranging from former high school/ collegiate athletes to athletes that have little or no fitness background.
